Naimisharanya holds a significant place in Indian scriptures, being revered as a divine and holy site since ancient times. As mentioned in the Kurma Purana, Naimisharanya has existed since the beginning of Satyuga and continues to be an important religious center through Kalyuga. The sacredness of Naimisharanya is highlighted by its association with the Chakratirth, where it is believed that the divine chakra created by Bhagwan Brahma marked the holy area.
The Devi Bhagwat describes how the saints and priests, fearing the impact of Kalyuga, gathered at Naimisharanya on Brahmaji’s directive. They followed a divine chakra, and where its circumference struck the ground, the place transformed into the revered Chakra Tirth. The chakra went deep into the earth, causing a surge of holy water, establishing Naimisharanya as a place free from the evils of Kalyuga.
”Kalikal Vibhitasmo Naimisharanya Vasinath, Brahmanatra Samadishtam Chakram Datwa Manomayam”.
(Devi Bhagwat)
Naimisharanya remains a vital spiritual destination, preserving its ancient significance through continuous worship, rituals, and meditative practices, as chronicled in numerous scriptures.
